Palmer Lake Elementary celebrates Women’s History Month with museum
Palmer Lake Elementary School students had an opportunity to learn about many different notable women March 20 and 21 during an open museum exhibit at the school.
During their museum visits, students excitedly pointed out people they recognized and teachers called their students’ attention to different museum details and shared more about the people and books featured in the museum.
The museum also featured prominent people in the Black community as a combined celebration of February’s Black History Month.
Some of the featured individuals included the Hidden Figures mathematicians who helped make the first moon landing possible, baseball player Jackie Robinson, astronaut Mae Jemison, gymnast Simone Biles, former President Barack Obama, Anne Frank, Rosa Parks, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., Malala Yousafzai and civil rights activist Ruby Bridges.
During Women’s History Month, school buildings and teachers work to bring the accomplishments of women to the forefront so all students can understand and appreciate the important roles women have played throughout history and in current events.
