Minnesota Gopher football players read to Palmer Lake students

Players from the University of Minnesota’s Gopher football team spent the morning at Palmer Lake Elementary on Nov. 13, where they stopped into several classrooms each to read a book and talk to the students.

Students peppered the football players with questions following the story time, asking them about football, their favorite things, how they spend their free time, and whether or not they are married.

“How are you even 18 if you look so tall?” one student asked in awe, eliciting a laugh from the players.

One of the football players in attendance was Jerome Williams, who graduated from Osseo Senior High School last spring and attended district schools throughout his K-12 education, starting with Weaver Lake: A Science, Math & Technology School.

“Osseo is a small town, and it’s a great community out there,” he said. “It was great to be able to be that hometown kid.”
