A flashback to Feb. 2020: Science, Sleds and Siberians

Our Science, Sleds and Siberians program was a great way to spend a week in Feb. 2020! Palmer Lake students spent the week learning about Siberian huskies and engaging in fun science activities.

At the end of the week, families were invited to join the celebration with our Stories & Adventures Night, an event designed to celebrate stories, reading and literacy. This event included a chance for students to pick up a copy of a leveled reader book about Balto, a husky dog that led a sled team to deliver much needed vaccines to Nome AK in 1925.

The highlight of the night was the opportunity for students to ride in a dogsled. Silent Run Adventures, a dog sled company in Monticello, MN, brought their teams to Palmer Lake's back yard and students visited and rode with the dogs. The District 279 Foundation generously provided the financial funding for this great opportunity for our students and families. Check out a video about this fun night!
